One of the most toxic components of petroleum and petroleum products is the sulphur-containing compounds. Among them, hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans are the most volatile and can already show their unpleasant smell at the smallest concentrations. Attempting to absorb them is not efficient or cost-effective, so in fact these impurities are sought to be chemically bound at the storage and transport stage, for which purpose there are mercaptan and hydrogen sulphide absorbers.

How does a hydrogen sulphide and mercaptan absorber for oil work?

Modern absorbers of these harmful connections are entered into oil or mineral oil at a stage of extraction, processing or transportation and allow not only to observe necessary ecological standards, but also to increase functional and operational qualities of petrochemical production. In addition, with the help of hydrogen sulphide and mercaptan neutralizers, a petroleum product can be upgraded to a higher class, thereby increasing its price and attractiveness to the customer. By binding toxic sulphur compounds, the absorbers reduce their corrosive effects on pipelines and equipment and improve product safety. The action is based on a chemical reaction: hydrogen sulphide absorbers irreversibly form new compounds with hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans, which are no longer inactive, easily separable and much more harmless.

All our hydrogen sulphide and mercaptan absorbers undergo rigorous laboratory testing to prove their effectiveness. As a result of their application you receive a petroleum product complying with the technical regulations for a particular type of fuel (a particular type according to GHOSTS).

    Particulars of use

The dosage depends on the specific conditions of application, initial and required parameters of the oil and petroleum products. It is described in detail in the enclosed instruction manual. The hydrogen sulfide absorber is introduced in any point of oil refining or pumping system, however for the greatest efficiency intensive stirring is required which is very actual in case of viscous oil products. Other important factors are petroleum product temperature and the contact time of the neutraliser with the oil to be treated.
Depending on the characteristics of your product, we can offer different brands of neutraliser that will do the job most efficiently and cost-effectively.
